N.Y. Industrial Hemp Pilot Program Gets Input From the Public

The Law Offices of Peter Sverd, PLLC is proud to have submitted comments to the N.Y. State Department of Agriculture with respect to the proposed rules that will govern the State’s reintroduction of industrial hemp as a renewable, sustainable, and profitable, cash crop.

The law firm’s comments are from the perspective that study and exploration under this pilot program should be as far reaching as the imagination will carry, and that barriers to entry be as restricted as tolerable. Given the fact that the number of authorizations are limited, each license must be utilized to its absolute fullest potential so as to ensure the greatest benefit to the State of New York and its residents. The leadership of Governor Cuomo, the Legislature, Commissioner Ball, and Director Logue, have together placed the State of New York at the start of the path toward a renewable, sustainable, and profitable future that will lift communities in every corner of the State. We are all excited to work with and to learn what the best and brightest minds in New York can rediscover from Industrial Hemp.

Our law firm’s intimate knowledge of the proposed rules governing the pilot program, and our background in public policy and intergovernmental relations, makes us an ideal fit to service the needs of higher education institutions, farmers, and industry, who wish to participate in this pilot program.
